TULSA NIPS THUNDER- Shawn Scanzano's goal with just three minutes left helped the Oilers beat the Thunder 2-1 on Tuesday night in Tulsa. Ryan McLean had tied the game with just 6:19 remaining. Goaltender Matt Carney suffered the loss, making 28 saves.
THUNDER SHUT DOWN BLAZERS- Rookie Darryl Green's first pro goal with just seven seconds left in the first period ended up being the game-winner, as the Thunder beat the Blazers 3-2 at the Ford center in Oklahoma City on Thursday. Goaltender Nathan Grobins recorded the victory, while Tyler Deis added a goal and an assist. Both players were making their Thunder debut.
GORILLAS STYMIE THUNDER- Amarillo jumped out to a 2-0 lead and held on for a 3-1 victory Friday, extending their winning streak to 10 straight games. Ryan McLean scored Wichita's lone goal.
BLAZERS EDGE THUNDER IN SHOOTOUT- Darryl Green's goal as time expired helped force overtime, but the Blazers came away with a 3-2 shootout victory in front of a raucous, season-high crowd of 5,131 fans at the Kansas Coliseum on Saturday. Adam Calder led the Thunder with a Gordie Howe Hat Trick, after missing the last two games due to injury.
DEFENSE STEPS UP- After allowing 16 goals in two games last weekend, the Thunder got stellar goaltending this past week, allowing just 10 goals in four games. Entering last week the Thunder had allowed four or more goals in eight straight games, but the Thunder have not allowed more than three goals in each of the last four games. New Thunder goaltender Nathan Grobins went 1-0-1 last week with a 1.92 goals against average and a .942 save percentage, while Matt Carney recorded a 2.50 GAA and a .909 save percentage.
THUNDER HIT THE ROAD- The Thunder hit the road for three straight games and do not return home until Friday, December 5th versus Lubbock. Fans can receive free tickets to that game by bringing a new, unwrapped toy, food or coats to either A-OK Pawn Shop location. The donations will benefit Operation Holiday and Toys for Tots.
THUNDERBOLTS- The Thunder are second in the CHL, allowing just 27.5 shots per game...Rookie Ryan Olynyk leads the CHL with 11 majors...Peter Runkel is second among all CHL defensemen with 15 points...Anders Strome is tied for the rookie scoring lead with 18 points...Veteran Jason Duda went on injured reserve on Wednesday, ending his streak of games played at a franchise record 225.
