Laredo Bucks News Release

LAREDO, Texas – The Central Hockey League announced this afternoon that Laredo Bucks forward Jeff Bes has been selected the Bauer/Nike CHL Player of the Week. This is the first weekly honor garnered by a Bucks player this season. The Bucks are home this Thursday night against the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees. Face-off at the LEC is set for 7:30 p.m. For tickets or more information call (956) 718-BUCKS (2825) or go online at www.laredobucks.com.

In three games last week Bes had five goals and two assists and helped Laredo win two of three games played. On Friday night in a 4-2 win over the Fort Worth Brahmas he scored the game winner with less than two minutes to play in regulation and went on to record the first hat trick of the season for the Bucks. It was the first hat trick for Bes since the winter of 2002 when he was playing for Augusta in the ECHL.

"It is a great award and it really represents the effort by the team," said Bes. "No one player is bigger than the team. We were really shorthanded all week and the guys pulled together and went out and got some big wins."

Bes, who is in his twelfth season, is one of five veteran players on the Bucks roster. He has scored a goal in four straight games. Earlier this season Bucks forward Patrik Nilson was the CHL Player of the Month for October
