Tulsa Oilers News Release
The Tulsa Oilers won both games last week, and are currently in second place in the Northwest Division with a record of 8-6-2, 18 points. The Oilers trail first-place Colorado by 7 points.
The Oilers kicked off their week with a Tuesday night showdown with the Wichita Thunder at the Tulsa Convention Center. Todd Marcellus and Shawn Scanzano both found the net as Tulsa outlasted Wichita 2-1. Rod Branch made 24 saves and got the win.
Friday night, the Oilers hoped to continue their winning ways as they traveled to Memphis to take on the two-time defending champion RiverKings. Tulsa spotted the RiverKings the first goal, then ran off five straight goals to take the game 5-3 before 4,325 at the DeSoto Civic Center. Jason Bermingham and Wes Scanzano each tallied two goals and two assists, and captain Todd Marcellus also had a four-point night (4A) in the win. Rod Branch continued his solid play in goal, turning away 30 RiverKing offerings to earn his 7th win of the campaign. Marian Koleda also scored his first goal of the season in the game for the Oilers.
Jason Bermingham has scored 8 points in his last 5 games (4G, 4A) and 13 in his last 10 (6G, 7A).
