Two of the hottest teams in the Central Hockey League have had players recognized as the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week and the Bauer/Nike CHL Player of the Week for Week Six of the CHL season. The Amarillo Gorillas have claimed 11 consecutive victories, in large part due to tremendous play by Vaughn Goaltender of the Week Shawn Degagne, while Bauer/Nike CHL Player of the Week Jeff Bes has paced the Laredo Bucks to a record of 7-2-1 in their last 10 outings.

Netminder Degagne turned in three outstanding performances the past week in leading Amarillo to wins over New Mexico, Odessa and Fort Worth, turning aside 104 of 109 shots faced to post a save percentage of 95.4 for the week. With his continued quality play, he is listed among the CHL's leaders in virtually every significant goaltending category. Degagne and the Gorillas sit just one victory short of tying two significant CHL records. With a win at Lubbock this Wednesday, Amarillo would equal the all-time CHL records for both consecutive wins (12, shared by three clubs) and consecutive road wins (10, shared by four teams).

Veteran center Bes scored in each of the Bucks three games this week, and currently has a four game goal-scoring streak. His most impressive performance came November 21st in a 4-2 win over visiting Fort Worth, where he scored three of the four goals and assisted on the other. With his seven-point week, Bes now sits tied for fourth in CHL scoring with 26 points, while his 19 assists (tied with two others) lead the CHL. Of his seven total goals so far this season, four have come on the power play, one has been shorthanded, and two have been game winners.
