Holland Placed on IR
November 24, 2003 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Lubbock Cotton Kings News Release
Kings All-Star defenseman Derek Holland has been placed on the injured reserve for two weeks retroactive to the game in Colorado. Holland will be available to return to the lineup on December 3. The medical staff at Lubbock Sports Medicine has placed a range on his injury of 2-6 weeks.
"Any time you take an All-Star out of an already fragile defensive corps, it hurts," said Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Kirk Tomlinson. "He should be back in December and that will depend on how his rehab goes. He will be missed, but the team must pick up the slack and we are not going to talk about Derek until he returns to the lineup."
The Kings are now skating with a corps of five defensemen: Craig Binns, Steve Birch, Mathieu Paul, Rob Vessio and Sebastien Roy. Birch was moved from forward to defense before the game last Friday night.
