Trenton Thunder News Release

CHANTILLY, Va. - Thunder batters Erin Evans, Sandy Vojik and Lindsay Gardner each hit a two-run home run Friday to take the second of a four-game set against defending league champion Washington, 7-2.

The Thunder (12-14) had 11 hits on the night, including the three home runs - Evans and Vojik's second homers of the year, and Gardner's third - while giving up just eight to the Glory (19-11). The win moves Rockford back to within half a game of fourth place in the NPF standings - the last place that qualifies for the year-ending NPF Playoffs in Kimberly, Wis.

Both Evans and Shanna Diller had 3-for-3 performances from the batters' box. Vojik and Tonya Callahan each batted 2-for-3 on the evening.

Allison Kime (5-3) delivered another outstanding pitching performance, allowing just one run-producing hit on the evening, a two-run homer by league leader Oli Keohohou. Kime struck out four Glory batters on the night. Washington starter Desiree Serrano (7-5) was chased from the game after just two-and-a-third innings, after giving up three earned runs off of six Thunder hits, and without racking up a single strikeout. Cassidy Scoggins pitched two-thirds of an inning of scoreless relief.

These two teams will play again Saturday night at 6:05 pm Central time.
