Sens run past Altoona

Altoona, PA - On Friday night in Altoona, the Senators bounced back for a 7-3 win over the Curve in front of over 6,500 fans. Justin Jones picked up his second win for the Sens against no losses and relievers Jhonny Nunez and Beltran Perez pitched 3.1 scoreless innings to preserve the win.
It didn't look good at the start though as Brad Corley hit a two-out two-run home run in the first inning to give Altoona a 2-0 lead.
Marvin Lowrance led off the second inning for the Senators with a long blast to center field, his first homer as a member of the Sens, to cut the lead in half at 2-1.
In the third, the Senators strung together four straight hits, a wild pitch, and a sacrifice fly to score four times and take a 5-2 lead. Ofilio Castro, Lowrance, Devin Ivany, and Matt Rogelstad all singled to open up the inning, with Ivany and Rogelstad both driving in runs with theirs. After a sacrifice bunt by starter Justin Jones, Mike Daniel was intentionally walked to load the bases. However the move backfired when Curve starter Luis Munoz uncorked a wild pitch to score Ivany. Seth Bynum then followed up with the sacrifice fly to score Rogelstad making it a four-run inning.
Altoona scored a run in the bottom of the sixth to bring the game to 5-3, but the Sens averted further damage when Nunez retired Luis Cruz for the last out of the inning.
Bill Rhinehart slugged a two-run home run in the seventh for the final tallies for the Sens. The home run was into the Lakemont Park roller coaster out beyond the right field wall in Altoona. It was his third home run as a member of the Senators.
Lowrance led the Sens with three hits, while Rhinehart and Ivany both had two. Defensively the Sens didn't commit an error and turned two big double-plays.
Harrisburg moves to 55-42, equaling their win total from 2007 while Altoona falls to 42-55. The series continues on Saturday night at 7:05pm with RH Craig Stammen on the mound for Harrisburg.
