Thunder Drops See-Saw Battle

WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Thunder lost 5-3 to the Mississippi RiverKings at the Kansas Coliseum on Saturday night. After erasing an early deficit with three unanswered goals, the RiverKings scored the final three of the contest to come away with the win.

Trailing 2-0 in the first, Marc Belanger scored a power play goal on a rebound from Damian Surma at 10:33. Just over three minutes later, and on another power play, Jason Duda deflected Mark Adamek's shot from the point past the left side of goaltender Ray Jean to tie the game.

Glenn Detulleo scored another power play goal at 10:13 in the second when his pass attempt banked off the foot of Jean and into the net. Ryan Campbell's power play goal at 19:15 in the second re-tied the game.

Ryan Held scored just 38 seconds into the third period to put Mississippi back in front and then scored on a short handed breakaway at 15:49 to put the game away.

Mark Adamek collected three assists for Wichita. Duda's goal leaves him one point shy of tying Doug Lawrence for third place in CHL history. Rookie goaltender Scott Campbell made his professional debut, saving 25 of 30 in the loss.
