Laredo Bucks News Release
HIDALGO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League beat the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees 5-3 Saturday night, in front of 5,412 fans at the Dodge Arena. The Bucks are 2-0 for the second time in the last three seasons (2-0 in '07-08).
Five different Bucks scored goals Saturday night, while Evan Schwabe picked up three assists to lead Laredo to the win. Kyle Gajewski was solid in his Bucks debut in net, as he set aside 30 of 33 Killer Bees shots to get the win.
The Bucks would jump out in front of the Killer Bees when they struck on the power-play with 7:07 left in the first period. Team Captain Adam Rivet scored on a one-timer from the bottom of the left circle, off of a laser pass from Darryl Smith. Laredo was outshot in the first 20 minutes by an 11-8 count.
The Bucks received a scare 40 seconds into the second period when Rivet was tripped up and immediately grabbed his knee. Rivet was on the ice for several minutes, but returned later in the period.

Laredo would make it 3-0 at the 11:48 mark of the second when Monych hammered home a rebound from the right crease. The strike was Monych's third of the year, with Evan Schwabe picking up the assist.
Mike Looby would put the Bucks up 4-0 when he hammered home a slap shot on the power-play from the top of the left circle at the 14:13 mark. It was Looby's first tally of the year, with Cody Hamilton and Schwabe picking up assists.
Seconds later Rio would get on the board to cut the Laredo lead to 4-1 when Shaun Landlot tipped in a Kurtis Dulle shot on the power-play.
The Bucks outshot the Killer Bees in the second period 20-9.
Rio would cut the Bucks lead to 4-2 just 2:40 into the third period when Daymen Rycroft scored a short-handed breakaway goal.

The Bucks would kill off 1:26 Rio two-man advantage with just over seven minutes left in the game to preserve the win.
