Brahmas fall to Colorado

Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas - Following a victory the night before against the Eagles, the Brahmas were unable to repeat the same result as they fell to Colorado 5-2.

It was a game of special teams Saturday evening, and it was Texas with the disadvantage early giving up a powerplay goal from Eagles Ryan Tobler. Just as the Brahmas looked to be in the mix of things with Colorado captain Riley Nelson sitting in the box, the Texas powerplay gave up a shortie to Ryan McLeod for a two goal deficit.

The Brahmas hopes for a comeback in the third were dashed early when McLeod, parked on Brahmas netminder Brett Jaeger's doorstep, scored the Eagles third goal of the night. Texas' own Kevin McLeod was sure to keep his team from being shutout when he skated in on goaltender Andrew Penner after the faceoff and slapped the puck for his first goal of the season shorthanded. The celebration for Brahmas fans was abbreviated when seconds later Nelson and the Eagles scored their fourth goal of the game, second on the powerplay, for the 4-1 lead.

Forward Tyler Skworchinski and the penalty kill put Texas back within two when his shot was deflected by linemate A.J. Gale for the second goal for the purple. But a empty net goal by Steve Haddon slammed the doors shut for Texas as they lost 5-2 in their second game of the season.

Texas' next game is Friday, October 23 at Mississippi before they host their home opener and the Championship Banner Ceremony next Saturday, October 24 at the NYTEX Sports Centre against Mississippi at 7:05 PM. For tickets please contact the Brahmas Box Office (8851 Ice House Drive, North Richland Hills) at (817) 336-4423 or www.brahmas.com.
