Thunder Defeated by Railers in Overtime, 5-4

GLENS FALLS, NY - The Adirondack Thunder saw their lead vanish late in the third period on Friday night as the Worcester Railers came back to win in overtime 5-4 at Cool Insuring Arena.

It was the Railers who got on the board just 4:51 in. After a turnover in the neutral zone, Shane Walsh cashed in for his eighth of the season.

Adirondack found the equalizer at 11:07. Tommy Parran's shot from off the wall was stopped by Railers' netminder Evan Buitenhuis and the rebound came right to Ara Nazarian for his fifth of the season.

Just 1:32 later, the Railers regained the lead on a powerplay goal as Walsh picked up his second of the game. The Thunder's response came at 15:33 on Jake Linhart's wrist shot. Linhart grabbed the puck from Nikita Popugaev for his third of the season.

Worcester's Jack Stander broke the tie with his second goal for the season with a wrist shot off the far post and in from the slot. It was the lone goal of the second period at 8:11 with the assist belonged to Ross Olsson.

The Thunder gained their first lead with two goals in a span of 4:08 of the third period. Alex Tonge's one-timer from the slot, set up by Popugaev tied it at 3 at 10:10 and Mike Szmatula scored a powerplay goal at 14:08, assisted by James Henry and Charlie Curti.

With the goaltender pulled, the Railers found the tying goal with just 1:51 left. Dante Salituro's shot was redirected past Joe Murdaca to make it 3-3.

In overtime, Salituro struck again just 1:53 to extend the Thunder's winless streak to 11 straight.

The Thunder ended up 1-for-4 on the powerplay and Worcester went 1-for-5. The Thunder outshot the Railers 35-32.
