
Wings Defeat the Fuel 7-3 in Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO, MICH. - The Indy Fuel (14-14-0-0) had a goal in each period but the Kalamazoo Wings (10-14-3-0) ran away with the game after exploding in the second period with four goals and continuing their momentum to notch three in the third bringing the final score to 7-3 at the Wings Event Center Friday night.
The Fuel scored the lone goal of the first period on the power play when Bobby MacIntrye found Spencer Watson at the right circle who fired a wrist shot that snuck its way into the net at 19:17.
The Wings got their first of the night when Ben Wilson diverted the puck in front of the net past goaltender Charles Williams (20 saves) to score his second of the season at 4:11 in the second. Kyle Blaney scooped up a turn over while the Wings were short-handed and drove it down past the net passing it back to Aaron Thow to lift it to the top corner giving the Wings their first lead of the night at 2-1.
Justin Kovacs followed up two minutes later on the power play tipping in a rebound that gave the Wings their third goal.
Derian Plouffe was credited for the Fuel's second goal of the night while on the power play when he passed a puck in front of the net that deflected off of Wilson's leg into the net at 17:36. But Justin Taylor tightened Kalamazoo's lead once again to 4-2 for the games third straight power play goal between the two teams at the end of the second.
Dylan McLaughlin scored his eleventh goal of the season five minutes into the third period faking out goaltender Jake Hildebrand (35 saves) and planting the puck in the back of the net at 5:30 in the third.
But the rest of the game belonged to the Wings as Luke Sandler grabbed his fourth of the season at 5:47 to make it 5-3. While Tanner Sorenson tallied a pair of goals at 7:39 and 18:36 respectively to bring the final score to 7-3.
The Fuel return home for their double header at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum to take on the Kansas City Mavericks tomorrow for a 6:05 pm start and the Wheeling Nailers for a 3:05 puck drop Sunday.
