Trenton Thunder News Release
Harrisburg, PA- The Thunder left the potential tying and go-ahead runs in scoring position in the top of the ninth inning, as they lost 4-3 to Harrisburg in the second game of the series on Friday night at Metro Bank Park. With the loss, Trenton falls to 77-55 on the season.
Trenton took the lead in the second inning with one swing of the bat, as Austin Romine hit a solo home run off RHP Tanner Roark to left-centerfield. However, two errors by INF Luis Nunez in the bottom half of the second led to a pair of runs for Harrisburg off RHP Andrew Brackman. Both runs were unearned as Brackman did not allow a hit in the frame.
Justin Snyder led off the third inning with a single and was later driven in on an RBI single from Daniel Brewer to tie the game at two. Rene Rivera then smacked a solo shot off Roark in the sixth inning to give Trenton a 3-2 lead. Rivera finished the night 3-for-4 and increased his average to .338 in limited time with Trenton.
Brackman pitched six innings and allowed just two hits, two unearned runs, walked two and struck out four. LHP Wilkins Arias came on in the seventh and retired the first two batters he faced. Jhonatan Solano then clubbed a solo shot off Arias over the right field wall to tie the game at three.
Harrisburg took the lead for good in the eighth inning, as Marvin Lowrance hit the go-ahead homer off RHP George Kontos (0-2) to put the Senators ahead 4-3. After leaving the bases loaded in the top of the eighth, the Thunder put the first two men on base in the ninth inning off RHP Cole Kimball. A Corban Joseph sacrifice bunt moved both runners into scoring position, but Kimball struck out Daniel Brewer and Austin Romine to end the game.
Trenton will face Harrisburg in the third game of the four game set on Saturday night at 7:00 PM. LHP Manuel Banuelos will make his second start for the Thunder, while the Senators counter with LHP Aaron Thompson. Catch all the action on 107.7 FM The Bronc or online at www.trentonthunder.com.
