Harrisburg Senators News Release

Marvin Lowrance hit a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to break a 3-3 tie, and Cole Kimball picked up his 10th save in holding the Trenton Thunder scoreless in the 9th, as the Harrisburg Senators defeated the Thunder 4-3 on Friday evening at Metro Bank Park. With the win, the Senators (71-60) remain 1.5 games in front of Bowie for the second playoff spot in the Eastern League's Western Division. The game was played in front of the second-largest crowd in Senators history, with a paid attendance of 7639.

Lowrance's bomb was the second solo home run in two innings for the Senators, as Jhonatan Solano had hit one in the bottom of the seventh inning to tie the game at three. A solo homer from Trenton's Rene Rivera in the sixth inning had given the Thunder the 3-2 lead. The game had been tied at two since the third inning, when Daniel Brewer of the Thunder drove in Justin Snyder with an RBI single off of Senators starter Tanner Roark.

Trenton (77-55) also struck first in the ballgame, getting a run in the top of the second inning on a solo homer from Austin Romine. But the Sens answered back with two runs in the bottom of the inning, both unearned off of Trenton's Andrew Brackman. Shortstop Luis Nunez made two huge errors, and Brackman walked two, as the Sens scored two without a hit. Chris Marrero reached to lead off the inning on the first Nunez error, and later scored on the second. Michael Burgess scored on Brad Coon's sacrifice fly.

Reliever Hassan Pena (2-2) got the win for the Senators, as he pitched a scoreless eighth to lead into Lowrance's homer in the bottom of the inning. George Kontos of Trenton gave up the homer to Lowrance, and took the loss to drop to 0-2. Kimball's save was his third in four days. The Thunder outhit the Senators 11-6, getting three hits from Rivera in defeat. Solano had two hits for the Sens, while Lowrance, Coon, Josh Johnson and Jesus Valdez each added one. Roark went six and a third and gave up three runs, striking out seven and walking two, in his fourth start as a Senator.

Game three of the four-game weekend series--the final home series of the regular season for the Senators--is scheduled for a 7 PM start on Saturday evening at Metro Bank Park. Left-hander Aaron Thompson (4-13, 6.15) makes the start for the Sens, against LHP Manny Banuelos (0-1, 9.53) of Trenton. Another large crowd is expected, and fans are advised to arrive early to secure parking and keep pedestrian traffic flowing at the front gate of the ballpark. Fans hoping to listen to the action can do so by tuning in to 1460 AM The Ticket, or logging on to www.senatorsbaseball.com, beginning with the pregame show at 6:45.
