Thunder Adds Former BU Netminder

Wichita, KS (February 15th) - The Wichita Thunder of the Central Hockey League announced several roster moves today, including the signing of rookie goaltender Grant Rollheiser. He is expected to be in uniform tonight as the team visits Denver.

Rollheiser, 24, began his rookie season with the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL. He played in 19 games, going 7-8-3 with a goals against average of 3.37, save percentage of .890 and earned his first pro shutout on January 6th at Las Vegas. The Chilliwack, British Columbia native was selected as a sixth-round draft pick in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft by the Toronto Maple Leafs. Rollheiser attended Prospects Camp with the Dallas Stars last summer and was invited to training camp by the Abbotsford Heat of the American Hockey League earlier this season.

The 6-foot-4, 225-pounder attended Boston University, where he went 14-8-4 over a four-year career with a goals against average of 2.87 and a save percentage of .891. Rollheiser was a member of the 2009 NCAA National Championship team and was teammates with Denver Cutthroats goaltender Kieran Millan, who was called-up earlier today to Lake Erie of the AHL.

In other moves, goaltender Kevin Regan was moved to goalie-IR and Brad Brungardt was waived from the roster. Les Reaney was also activated from IR while Greger Hanson has been placed on 7-Day IR.

Wichita visits Denver tonight in what will be Head Coach Kevin McClelland's 500th game coaching. He began his coaching career in 2005-06 and has spent his entire career in the CHL. McClelland is eight wins shy of reaching 300 for his career. With one more win, he will pass Gary Unger in seventh place all-time with 293 career victories.
