Three Things You Need to Know

1.) Brahmas Legend Calls it Quits- Fort Worth forward Chad Woollard will be playing in his final pro game tonight when the Brahmas host the Allen Americans. The veteran is the franchise's all-time leader in games played (452), goals (218), assists (225), points (443), penalty minutes (858), power-play goals (59), game-winning goals (29) and hat tricks (7). The Durham, Ontario native is also high on the league's all-time points (575- 16th), goals (295- 5th) and games played (569- tied for 15th) lists. Eight times in his pro career, Woollard has eclipsed the 30-goal plateau. Woollard has 14 goals and 13 assists in 35 games this season with the Brahmas. Woollard announced his retirement from hockey to pursue other opportunities earlier this week.

2.) Rush Continue to Lean on Defense- The Rapid City Rush (23-20-5) are coming off a 2-1 overtime victory on Tuesday night against the Wichita Thunder. Tim Boron made 48 saves earning the win and saw his save percentage jump to a league-best .924 percent. Boron and teammate Danny Battochio are tied for fifth in the CHL with a 2.42 goals against average. Rapid City has allowed two goals or fewer in four of their last six games but their offense is still struggling to find the back of the net averaging a league-low 2.46 goals per game. The Rush has scored just 17 goals in their last eight games but are 4-4 over that stretch. Rapid City is tied for sixth in the Berry Conference and this weekend will play at Quad City on Friday and at Bloomington on Saturday.

3.) Snowden Has Night to Remember- Fort Worth forward John Snowden was unstoppable on Wednesday night in Arizona as he scored five goals helping his team to a 7-1 victory over the Sundogs. Fort Worth went 5-0 on their road trip and overall has won six straight away from home. Snowden scored four times in the second period (two on the power play) and once in the third period becoming the first player in almost a decade to score five goals in a single game (Chris Minard, San Angelo - 2004). Snowden has 20 goals in 24 games with the Brahmas whom he joined just prior to Christmas after starting the season in Rapid City. Snowden's four-goal period marks the first time that has happened in more than two years (Andrew Martens, Wichita - 2011). The Brahmas are now tied for first place in the Berry Conference with the Allen Americans and the two teams go head-to-head on Friday night in North Ric hland Hills with the conference lead on the line.

By the Numbers

500: The number of CHL games that Wichita Head Coach Kevin McClelland will have coached after tonight's game in Denver. McClelland is 292-166-41 all-time in the CHL coaching with Wichita, Colorado and Mississippi. McClelland will become just the eighth coach to reach the 500-game plateau and with eight more wins, he will become just the seventh coach to reach 300 CHL wins.

One-Timers

-Missouri's Sebastien Thinel is sitting at 798 career CHL points, sixth on the league's all-time points list. Thinel is 26 points behind Chris Richards for fifth on the list. This season, Thinel leads the CHL in scoring with 69 points (21-48=69).

-The co-leaders in the CHL, the Fort Worth Brahmas and the Allen Americans, meet for the 11th time this season on Friday night. So far in the season series, each team has won five games but the Brahmas have had the edge lately winning four straight games, all by one goal. Eight of the previous 10 games in the series have been decided by one goal.

-Quad City and Bloomington played three straight times and the Blaze have widened the gap winning two of those three games. The Flock won the first meeting 9-6 but the Blaze responded nicely winning the next two allowing just one goal in each game. Bloomington now leads Quad City by five points for the final playoff spot.

-The Tulsa Oilers beat the Allen Americans in a 10-round shootout on Tuesday winning their fourth shootout in five tries. Their 4-1 record in shootouts is the best win percentage in the CHL. Tulsa is 7-3 in their last 10 games overall and will host Arizona on Friday.

-The fourth place Denver Cutthroats and the third place Wichita Thunder play a home and home this weekend with the Fish having a chance to close the six point gap between themselves and the Thunder. Wichita is riding the confidence of a 14-1 gap between themselves and the Cutthroats in their last meetings (Jan. 26 and Jan. 27 in Wichita).

-The first place Allen Americans and the third place Wichita Thunder are separated by three points in the standings and beginning on Sunday, they will square-off three straight times. Game's two and three in the stretch will be Feb. 19 and Feb. 22.

-The Arizona Sundogs waived forward/defenseman Adam Smyth on Thursday. The veteran had been with the Sundogs since 2009 playing in 185 regular season games. In his career with Arizona, Smyth had scored 20 goals and 34 assists with 692 penalty minutes.
