Quad City Mallards News Release
MOLINE, Ill. (February 15, 2013) - The Quad City Mallards have signed defenseman Tyler Amburgey, the Mallards announced today.
Amburgey, 22, will turn pro with the Mallards after spending the last three seasons in the junior ranks with the United States Hockey League's Tri-City Storm and Dubuque Fighting Saints. The Rowlett, Texas, native split last year between the Storm and Fightings Saints, scoring two goals and totaling 15 points in 50 games between the two clubs.
"Tyler's a promising young defenseman who is looking forward to making the most of this opportunity and who brings more size to our defense corps," said Mallards coach and general manager Terry Ruskowski.
Before heading to the USHL, the 6' 2", 215-pound Amburgey skated for the United States National Team Development Program Under-18 Team for two seasons.
The Mallards also announced today that forward/defenseman Gabriel Boutin-Gagnon has been placed on seven-day injured reserve retroactive to last Saturday due to a lower body injury.
