Millan Recalled to AHL's Lake Erie Monsters

DENVER - The Denver Cutthroats announced today rookie goaltender Kieran Millan has been called up to the team's American Hockey League affiliate, the Lake Erie Monsters. The club has also signed forwards Mikael Bedard and Adam Smyth to their roster, along with goaltender Mike DiLorenzo.

This is Millan's second call-up to Lake Erie and the ninth overall by a Cutthroats player this season.

Millan currently has a record of 12-11-3 for the Cutthroats with a goals against average of 2.59 that ranks seventh in the CHL and a .923 save percentage that stands second overall in the league. He has appeared in one game this season for the Monsters, a 4-0 loss to the Charlotte Checkers in his first career AHL start. The Boston University product joins six other Cutthroats players now on the Lake Erie roster, including fellow rookie goaltender Kent Patterson.

Gabriel Beaupre, Joel Chouinard, Markus Lauridsen, Jamie MacQueen, and Dean Strong are the other Denver skaters now competing in Lake Erie. Ben Wilson has also skated with the Monsters this season, giving the Cutthroats eight different players that have seen time in the AHL this season - tied for the most in the Central Hockey League this season (Allen Americans).

Bedard (MY-kuhl beh-DARD) is a Montreal, Quebec native who joins the Fish after beginning the season with the Arizona Sundogs, where he tallied three goals and four assists in 15 games. He has recorded 190 career points in 227 professional games played with 84 goals and a 106 assists.

The 25-year-old Bedard is currently in his fifth pro season after competing for four years in four different junior leagues around Canada, including a two-year stint with the Nanaimo Clippers of the British Columbia Hockey League alongside Cutthroats forward AJ Gale.

Smyth, 29, appeared in 48 games this season for the Arizona Sundogs with a pair of goals and nine assists to compliment his 136 penalty minutes. The veteran forward is currently in his sixth CHL season with 1,277 PIMs racked up over that span.

DiLorenzo, 29, is currently competing in his fifth pro season, three of which have been in the CHL.

The Cutthroats also waived forward Brent Cullaton from their roster.

Denver begins a home-and-home series with the Wichita Thunder on Friday at the Denver Coliseum. Puck drop is set for 7:05 PM MST.
