Tulsa Oilers News Release

TULSA, OK - The Tulsa Oilers picked up their second shutout win of the season and the first since Nov. 10 with a 2-0 blanking of the Arizona Sundogs Friday night at the BOK Center. Veteran forward Michel Beausoleil scored both Tulsa goals and rookie goaltender Shane Madolora turned aside 39 shots.

The Oilers (19-29-3) opened the proceedings with a goal from Beausoleil off of a gorgeous pass from Justin Fox with 9:29 left in the opening period. Fox threw the puck right across the top of the Arizona crease and Beausoleil simply kept his stick on the ice to tap it past Sundogs goalie Adam Russo. It was Fox's third assist in his eighth game as an Oiler.

Beausoleil, the Montreal native, struck again a minute and 13 seconds into the second stanza with a slapshot that rocketed over the glove-hand shoulder of Russo and made the score 2-0. The two goals from Beausoleil gives him 17 on the season, which places him third on the squad behind Ben Gordon and Ryan Menei.

Each side went scoreless in the final 38 minutes and 13 seconds of the contest.

Madolora recorded his first shutout as an Oiler and the first of his professional career. The California native claimed his tenth win in his last 15 starts. Russo had 19 saves for the Sundogs and falls to 12-9-4 this season.

Both teams struggled mightily on powerplay opportunities. Tulsa came into the game at fifth in the Central Hockey League on powerplay conversions but went 0-8 and Arizona was even worse at 0-9.

Tulsa forward Ryan Cramer assisted on both goals to give him 16 helpers this season.

The Oilers are now 12-0-0 this season when leading after two periods. With the victory, Tulsa has now won seven of its last eight games on home ice. Thanks to a Bloomington loss to Missouri, the Oilers sit just nine points back of the eighth and final playoff spot with 15 games to play.

Tomorrow the Oilers will conclude a four-game homestand as they take on the Fort Worth Brahmas at 7:35 p.m.
