Thunder Acquire Rights to Greg Wolfe
September 24, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Adirondack Thunder News Release
Glens Falls, NY - The Adirondack Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames, announced today that they have acquired the rights to forward Greg Wolfe from the Alaska Aces in exchange for the rights to forward Tyler Maxwell.
Wolfe, 25, joins the Thunder for his second full season of professional hockey after he spent the 2014-15 season with the Alaska Aces of the ECHL and the Iowa Wild of the AHL. Wolfe appeared in 59 games with Alaska, where he was one of the team's top offensive threats as a rookie. The forward collected 60 points (22-38-60) to put him at over a point-per-game for the season, one of just two Aces' players with over 50 games played to reach that mark. Wolfe's play in Alaska earned him an AHL recall in February, where he made his AHL debut with the Iowa Wild on February 13, 2015 against Texas. He collected his first career AHL point, an assist, in a 4-2 win over Milwaukee on February 21.
The Canton, MI native made his professional debut at the end of the 2013-14 season when he appeared in seven ECHL games with Reading. Wolfe collected his first professional points in a two goal effort on April 1 against Orlando. Prior to his professional career, Wolfe skated four seasons of collegiate hockey at Michigan State, where he amassed 89 points (35-54-89) over 147 games played. Wolfe holds the Spartans' record for goals (13 in 2013-14) and points (31) in a season since the program joined the Big 10 Conference.
Full season, partial season, flex and group ticket plans are now available to renew or purchase for the Adirondack Thunder's inaugural 2015-16 season, presented by Bud Light. The benefits of being a Thunder season ticket holder include a savings of unlimited unused ticket exchange, playoff ticket priority and the ability to buy tickets all season long at the discounted season ticket price.
