Seven Mallards Bound for AHL Camps

MOLINE, Ill. (September 24, 2015) - Seven players under contract to the Quad City Mallards will take part in American Hockey League training camps, the Mallards announced today. 

Defensemen Kevin Baker, Kevin Gibson and Mike Monfredo, forward Matt Neal and goaltender Adam Morrison will skate in the Iowa Wild's training camp. Iowa's camp opens Saturday at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. The Mallards are approaching their third season as a Wild affiliate and their first as the organization's sole ECHL farm club.

Forward Collin Valcourt and defenseman Austin Coldwell will participate in the Chicago Wolves' camp. The Wolves first hit the ice next Tuesday in Hoffman Estates.

Baker, Coldwell, Monfredo and Neal are set to return to the Mallards after playing for the club last season. Rookie Gibson arrives after getting his first taste of professional hockey with the Tulsa Oilers at the end of last season. Valcourt returns to North America having played in the Czech Republic last year. Morrison tended goal for the South Carolina Stingrays last season before signing with the Mallards last month.

The Mallards will open their training camp on Friday, October 2. The Flock will begin its nineteenth season on the road against the defending champion Allen Americans on Friday, October 16 before returning to the Quad Cities to play their home opener on Friday, October 23 at 7:05 p.m. against the Tulsa Oilers.
