Altoona Curve News Release

CURVE, Pa. - The Altoona Curve scored all of their runs in the sixth inning and Jared Lakind extended his franchise-best single-season scoreless streak to outlast the Hartford Yard Goats, 3-2, in the homestand finale on Sunday night at Peoples Natural Gas Field.

Lakind (Save, 4) struck out David Dahl to close the ninth inning and increase his own Curve record of 25 consecutive scoreless innings tossed in a single season.

Altoona (37-31) combined for 10 hits on the night, while Hartford (37-30) went just 2-for-11 with runners in scoring position, and left the bases loaded in the ninth.

Down 1-0 in the bottom of the sixth, Anderson Feliz led off the inning with a single to set the table for a Harold Ramirez RBI double into left field, tying the game at 1-1.

The Curve took their first lead of the game on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Jin-De Jhang to plate Ramirez and give Altoona a 2-1 lead, and Jonathan Schwind logged an RBI on a lineout to center field, giving the Curve their final run at 3-1.

Montana DuRapau allowed a Correlle Prime RBI double to bring the Yard Goats within 3-2 and exited the game with two runners on and two out before Lakind came in to shut down Hartford.

Curve starter Tyler Eppler (Win, 5-4) scattered five hits over his six innings, but allowed just one run on a Dillon Thomas first inning RBI single. Eppler also walked three and struck out three.

Hartford starter Kyle Freeland (Loss, 5-7) threw seven innings, allowing three runs (two earned) over eight hits, while issuing two walks and punching out four.

Edwin Espinal paced Altoona offensively with a 3-for-4 evening, while Feliz and Jose Osuna each had a two-hit day.

The Curve will open a six-game road trip on Tuesday in Binghamton against the Mets at 6:35 p.m. from NYSEG Stadium. Altoona right-hander Alex McRae (0-2, 18.41) makes his third Double-A start to begin the series.
