Fightins vetoed by Senators on Father's Day

The Reading Fightin Phils (49-21) dropped the rubber-match on Father's Day against the Harrisburg Senators (37-31) by losing 4-1. Reading lost their first series in June and their first series since 5/27-5/30 in New Hampshire.

Reading took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first against Senators starter Reynaldo Lopez (2-5). Jesmuel Valentin led off the game with a triple then scored on a one-out RBI single by Jorge Alfaro. Harrisburg scored two runs off Ricardo Pinto (2-3) in the bottom of the second to take a 2-1 lead. Brian Jeroloman hit a RBI single and Stephen Perez hit a sacrifice fly.

Kevin Keyes hit a pinch-hit RBI single off Pinto in the bottom of the seventh to give Harrisburg a 3-1 lead. Pinto allowed three runs (two earned) off seven hits and two walks with three strikeouts in seven innings. Hoby Milner gave up a home run to Neftali Soto in the bottom of the eighth as Harrisburg extended their lead to 4-1. It was the first home run given up by Milner this season.

Alfaro finished day going 3-for-4 with one RBI. Aaron Brown also went 3-for-4 as he and Alfaro combined for six of the Fightins eight hits. Lopez struck out 13 batters for the Senators. It tied his season and career high. Wander Suero recorded his first save of the season.

The Fightin Phils are off on Monday and will return to FirstEnergy Stadium for a three-game series on Tuesday night against the Akron RubberDucks. First pitch is at 7:05 pm. Fans can listen to the game on Sports Radio AM 1240/FM 98.5 and fightins.com beginning at 6:35 pm. Fans can also watch the game on MiLB.tv beginning at 7:05 pm.
