DULUTH, Ga. - The Atlanta Gladiators announced Sunday that forward Lindsay Sparks has been reassigned to the team and forward Tanner Pond released from his PTO, both by the Providence Bruins. In addition, the Boston Bruins have reassigned goalie Dan Vladar to Atlanta from the P-Bruins.
Sparks, 27, skated in three games for the AHL's Bruins and managed a plus-one rating. The 5-foot-9, 180-pound forward leads the Gladiators in scoring with 53 points (12-41-53) in 53 games this season. The Oakville, ON native's 41 helpers is tied for third in the ECHL and his 53 points ranks 17th overall in the league. The fifth-year pro also tops all Gladiators skaters with a plus-10 rating.
Pond, 24, appeared in two games for the Providence Bruins during his first AHL call up. The Walled Lake, MI native ranks fourth on the Gladiators in scoring with 32 points (14-18-32) in 53 games. The hard-hitting forward also leads Atlanta with eight fighting majors and sits in second on the club with 141 penalty minutes.
Vladar, 20, won his only start for the P-Bruins as the second-year goalie stopped 25 of 27 shots in a 3-2 shootout win over the Belleville Senators. The 6-foot-5, 190-pound netminder leads the Gladiators' goalies this season with 14 wins. The Prague, CZE native is on pace for ECHL career-highs in goals-against-average (2.99) and save percentage (0.910).
In a non-related transaction, the Gladiators have released goalie Carmine Guerriero.
