Boise, ID - Steve McParland's second goal of the game was the overtime winner on Saturday night, as the Idaho Steelheads (35-19-7) earned their second straight overtime victory with a 3-2 decision over the Kansas City Mavericks (30-27-4) in front of a sell-out crowd of 5,284 fans at CenturyLink Arena.

McParland finished a 3-on-1 rush with a right-wing wrist shot with 53 seconds left in overtime, beating Adam Carlson to the blocker side for his team-leading 27th goal of the season. The win was also Tomas Sholl's first as a Steelhead and sixth of the season, a 31-save effort.

Idaho never led in regulation, falling behind 1-0 at 6:08 of the first period on the first of Kansas City's six power plays. A Bryce Aneloski point shot was fought off by Sholl, but Jordan Kwas fired in the rebound for his tenth of the season. Brady Brassart tied the score for Idaho at 7:48 of the first period, finishing a rebound off the face-off for his 21st goal of the season and third in the last three games.

The Steelheads finished the first period with three shots on goal, their fewest in a period this season.

The Mavericks regained the lead at 7:36 of the second period when a turnover at the Maverick blue line became a breakaway for Matt Robertson, who finished for his 18th goal of the year. McParland knotted the score again at 13:14 when Kwas dropped an errant reverse pass behind his own net, the puck going right to McParland who wrapped it to the front for his first of the game.

The Steelheads had not scored an overtime goal since December 31st of last season prior to last night's OT winner by Cole Ully, but now have won back-to-back overtime games. Each of Idaho's last four home games has gone beyond regulation, with the Steelheads winning three of them.

The Steelheads hosted their 15th sell-out crowd in 31 home games this season.

The Steelheads begin a three-game road trip with a single game against the Atlanta Gladiators on Tuesday night at Infinite Energy Arena, with puck-drop scheduled for 5:05pm MT. The game is available on 1350AM KTIK and ECHLTV.

PLAY OF THE GAME:

Former Steelhead Corey Durocher turned the puck over in overtime to spring Steve McParland the other way for the winner. From the right wing on the rush, Durocher tried to feed CJ Eick driving the net. Cole Ully spun around and got a stick in the passing lane, deflecting the pass without looking and sending the Steelheads the other way on the 3-on-1 rush. McParland buried the wrist shot from the right wing to give Idaho its second overtime win of the home stand.
