Three More Birds Named All-Stars

Sioux Falls, SD - Three more Sioux Falls Canaries got All-Star bids today as the American Association announced the pitching staffs for the North and South Division teams at the 2007 American Association All-Star Game. The 2007 American Association All-Star Game will take place at The Birdcage on Tuesday, July 17. The 2007 American Association All-Star Game is presented by Sanford Health, Argus Leader Media, Lithia Dodge of Sioux Falls, Chevrolet of Sioux Falls, and First PREMIER Bank & PREMIER Bankcard.

Canaries ace pitcher Pat Mahomes, set-up man Kris Regas, and closer Jerrod Fuell have all been selected to represent the North Division on July 17. Mahomes is 7-1 this season with a 2.37 ERA in 10 starts this season. Regas is 1-2 with a 1.52 ERA this season. Fuell leads the American Association with 13 saves this season. The Birds closer is 1-0 with a 3.68 ERA.

The three Canaries pitchers will be joined by four pitchers from the Lincoln Saltdogs and one from the St. Paul Saints on the North Division's eight-man pitching staff. The Saltdogs will be represented by starting pitchers Jarrett Gardner and Josh Kauten and relievers Mark Roberts and Matt Varner. Saints starter Brian Whinnery rounds out the North Division's pitchers.

The South Division All-Star team will also have an eight man pitching staff. The first-half champion El Paso Diablos will send starter Greg Wiltshire and closer Ned Darley to the All-Star Game. Fort Worth also received a pair of selections with Joel Kirsten and former Canary Cory Walters earning All-Star bids. Shreveport will be represented in Sioux Falls by Mal Winters and Matt Yeatman, while Coastal Bend will send Jon Hunton and Pensacola sends Logan Williamson to the All-Star Game.
