
Saints Pitcher Whinnery Selected to All-Star Team

ST. PAUL, MN (July 5, 2007) - The St. Paul Saints will have a pitcher join their three position players at the American Association All-Star Game as Brian Whinnery was selected by manager George Tsamis to join seven other pitchers on the North Division team.
Whinnery is 4-1 with a 2.05 ERA in 11 games (eight starts). In 57.0 innings he has allowed just 18 runs (13 earned) while walking 21 and striking out 40. He currently leads the American Association in ERA. Whinnery was named the Pitcher of the Month for the Month of June and also earned Pitcher of the Week honors for June 18-24.
Whinnery, 27, is a graduate of St. Thomas University and resides in St. Paul, MN. He joins catcher Marcel Longmire and outfielders Brent Krause and Brian Sprout as the other Saints on the All-Star team.
Tsamis, the manager of the North Division team, selected the pitchers for the All-Star Game. The American Association All-Star Game takes place on Tuesday, July 17 in Sioux Falls, SD at Sioux Falls Stadium. Below are the All-Star pitchers for both leagues.
