THIS WEEK'S OPPONENTS...

The Syracuse Crunch (Columbus) are currently 7th in the North Division with 28 points and have an 11-13-3- 3 record... The Crunch lead the season series against St. John's 3-1-0-0 and the all-time series with a 20-11-1 record... Syracuse is coming off a 4-2 loss against Binghamton on Monday night... The Crunch are 6-6-1-2 on the road this season... Syracuse is ranked 17th while on the powerplay at 14.7% and 24th when playing shorthanded at 80.9%... Center Alexander Svitov leads the Crunch with 21 points (10G,11A) in 29 games this season... Goaltender Pascal LeClaire has a 5-6-3 record, two shut outs, a 2.34 GAA and a .926 save percentage... Center Jeremy Reich has four points including three goals against the Leafs this season. The Leafs Matt Stajan leads the Baby Buds with two goals and an assist against the Crunch... This will be the final visit to St. John's for Syracuse during the regular season. St. John's will travel to Syracuse two more times, January 21 and March 30.

LEAFLETS...

- The Baby Leafs will play two games next week at Mile One Stadium before heading on a 24 day - 12 game road trip.

- Right-winger David Ling had a team high eight game point streak (2- 8=10) snapped last game against Binghamton.

- The St. John's Maple Leafs are 2nd in the North Division (18-11-0-1). The team went 1-2-0-0 in three road games The week of Dec.13. The Maple Leafs are coming off a 1-0 win over Binghamton.

- Goaltender Jean Sebastein Aubin recorded his second shut out of the season in a 1-0 win over Binghamton December 18. Aubin has a 4-2-0 record, a 1.65 GAA and a .953 save percentage in six games this season.

- The St. John's Maple Leafs have 24 home games and 26 on the road after Christmas.

-The Baby Leafs will embark on their longest road trip of the season January 7. The team will play 12 games in 23 days in nine different cities.

AHL ALL-STAR VOTING...

Fans will have the opportunity to vote for the most deserving AHL players by visiting theahl.com and completing the official AHL All-Star Fan Ballot. The players receiving the most votes by position will earn berths in the starting lineups of both the Canadian AHL All-Star team and the PlanetUSA AHL All-Star team at the 2005 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic, to be held Feb. 13-14 in Manchester, N.H. A committee of AHL coaches will select the remaining All-Stars, and all 28 clubs will be represented on the final rosters.

By completing the official ballot, fans will be entered to win various prizes, including the grand prize of an autographed game-worn jersey from the 2005 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic. On-line fan balloting at theahl.com will end at 11:59 p.m. EST on Sunday, January 23.

Mikael Tellqvist (G): Tellqvist has a 10-7-1 record, a 2.71 GAA and a .915 save percentage in 19 appearances this season.

MAPLE LEAFS TO WATCH...

Harold Druken (LW): Druken has 20 points (9G,11A) in 25 games. Druken has three powerplay markers and two game winning goals.

David Ling (RW): Ling leads the team in points (32) and assists (23) in 30 games this season. Ling had a team high eight game point streak (2-8=10) snapped last game.

Kyle Wellwood (Center): Wellwood is second in team scoring with 31 points including a team leading 15 goals. He also leads the team with four game-wiinning goals.

Jean Sebastein Aubin (G): Aubin is 3-1-0 in the team's last five games and has posted a 1.23 GAA and a .963 save percentage.

AROUND THE AMERICAN HOCKEY LEAGUE...

Chicago entertains San Antonio on Wednesday night having won eight straight meetings with the Rampage, including all five this season by a combined score of 22-5... Wolves goaltender Kari Lehtonen has not allowed a goal to San Antonio over the past 178:24, stopping 80 of 81 shots overall in three games this season... J.P. Vigier has a point in nine straight games for Chicago (5g, 8a)... Captain Steve Maltais is one goal shy of 600 for his professional career... Ryan Jardine has five points in his last three games for the Rampage, who are coming off a 4-3 win in Milwaukee over the defending Calder Cup champions on Monday.

THIS WEEK IN LEAFS HISTORY...

December 28, 1991 - Felix Potvin records his second shutout of the season with a 36 save performance as the Leafs whip the Adirondack Red Wings 6-0 in Glens Falls, New York.

December 28, 1994 - Rookie rearguard Kenny Jonsson, in his second professional game, scores a pair of goals as the Leafs trim the visiting P.E.I. Senators 5-1.

December 30, 1998 - A dramatic unassisted goal by Ladislav Kohn with 16 seconds left in regulation time gives St. John's a 2- 1 win at Hamilton. Veteran NHL netminder Jeff Reese joins the Leafs but watches from the bench as Marc Robitaille kicks out 30 shots to post the victory.
