Idaho Steelheads News Release
Boise, ID (11/12/12) - Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Brad Ralph announced late Monday afternoon that rookie goaltender Josh Robinson has been recalled from the Idaho Steelheads by the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League.
Idaho (ECHL) and Texas (AHL) are the primary development affiliates of the NHL's Dallas Stars. The AHL is the highest level of minor-league hockey in North America.
Robinson, 22, is under contract with Texas after a four-year college career at Michigan Tech. He is 5-0-1 in his first six professional appearances, including a pair of wins last week at home over the Bakersfield Condors. Robinson came into the week among the ECHL leaders in wins (5, T-5th), save percentage (.920, 4th), and goals-against average (2.60, T-9th). He was named ECHL Goaltender of the Week on October 23 after picking up his first two professional wins on the road at Colorado.
Idaho has six players currently under contract with the Stars organization on its roster - G Tyler Beskorowany, D Jace Coyle, D Hubert Labrie, D John Ryder, F Tristan King and F Mathieu Tousignant. Jeremie Blain (AHL - Chicago Wolves) and Sam Carrick (NHL - Toronto Maple Leafs) are also on assignment in Idaho.
The Steelheads are at home Wednesday night, hosting Stockton at 7:10 PM at CenturyLink Arena. It is Stockton's only regular-season game in Boise this season. Idaho goes on the road Friday (San Francisco) and Sunday (Stockton) before welcoming long-time rival Alaska into town on Wednesday, November 21. Tickets for all Idaho home games are available online now at www.idahosteelheads.com .
