Walleye Notes
- Past Week Performance! Toledo started the week with a School Celebration game on Wednesday in front of 6,802 school kids. Fort Wayne scored three third period goals to beat Toledo 4-2. Friday night in Wheeling, defenseman Wes O'Neill scored two power play goals to lead Toledo to a 5-2 win. The Walleye followed that game up with a 5-3 win on Saturday when Toledo scored three third period goals on Wheeling. Sunday, Toledo fired a season high 45 shots on net, but were beat 2-1 by South Carolina.
- Going for the Goals! In its two wins this week Toledo scored ten goals (five in each contest). The Walleye are 6-1-0 when they score three or more goals this season. Conversely, Toledo is 0-5-1 when they score two goals or less.
- Getting a Quick One! On Saturday night Walleye forward Willie Coetzee started the third period with a bang scoring a goal just 16 seconds into the third period. It was the fastest goal scored by a Walleye player this season.
- Shoot the Puck! Toledo set a season high for shots in a game Sunday with 45, breaking the old high of 42 set on October 20th at Kalamazoo. The Walleye also set a season high for shots in a period with 17 on goal in the first. They broke that high in the third period with 18 sent on net.
- Gametime! Toledo has just two games on tap this week. The first is the first trip to Fort Wayne for Toledo this season. The Walleye have lost two meeting with the Komets this year. Toledo will return home Saturday night to host the Wheeling Nailers. The Walleye are 2-0-1 against the Nailers this year.
- Promotions! Saturday night it's the first Toledo Walleye POSTER SERIES giveaway of the year! The four-part series will kick off on November 17th with a LIFE SIZE Spike Growth Chart giveaway. The first 1,500 kids (12 and under) will receive the growth charts upon entrance!
