The South Carolina Stingrays continued a season-long six-game road trip this week for a record of 2-2-0-0. On Wednesday morning, the Stingrays battled the Kalamazoo Wings at Wings Stadium, falling 5-3. Stingrays forward Matthew Pistilli recorded two assists. The Rays wrapped up their season series against the Wings Friday night. Defenseman Tommy Cross buried two goals and defenseman Kevin Quick and forward Tyler McNeely each added two assists in a 5-1 win. Saturday marked the first-ever meeting between the Stingrays and the Evansville IceMen. Stingrays defenseman Ryan Turek buried his first goal of the season, but the IceMen held on for a 2-1 triumph. The Stingrays wrapped up the week with a 2-1 victory at Toledo Sunday evening. Goaltender Shawn Hunwick made a season-high 44 saves.

Taking the Lead

The Stingrays are fourth in the South Division with 13 points and 9th overall in the Eastern Conference.

Defenseman Tommy Cross is 17th in the ECHL, second among rookies and first among defensemen with 14 points (four goals, 10 assists). His 10 assists are tied for first among rookies and tied for third among league defensemen.

Forward Matthew Pistilli is fourth in the ECHL with 52 shots.

Goaltender Shawn Hunwick is 13th with a 2.69 goals-against average and second with a .927 save percentage.

Rookie Alden Hirschfeld is 17th among ECHL first-year players with seven points (four goals, three assists).
