Sioux Falls Skyforce News Release
SIOUX FALLS, SD - The Sioux Falls Skyforce (23-14) snapped a four-game losing streak on Friday night with a 135-120 win over the Agua Caliente Clippers (16-18) at the Sanford Pentagon. The victory marks Head Coach Nevada Smith's 77th win at the helm of the Skyforce, making him the second-winningest coach in franchise history.
Both teams were evenly matched in the first quarter, but Desi Rodriquez's (25 points, six rebounds) 10 first-quarter points kept the Clippers close on the heels of the Force.
In the second quarter, Raphiael Putney (24 points, nine rebounds and four blocks) passed Cezary Trybanski (323) for the most blocks in NBA G League history. The game marked the 10th time this season Putney has tallied four-or-more blocks in a night, pushing his career total to 324.
Emanuel Terry (22 points, 11 rebounds) led Sioux Falls with 13 points in the first half as the Skyforce built a nine-point lead heading into the halftime break. Terry was reacquired by Sioux Falls earlier today following his NBA Call-Up to the Phoenix Suns.
Tyler Roberson (25 points, 12 rebounds) and Manu Lecomte (29 points and seven assists) paced the offensive attack for the Clippers for much of the night, leading a third-quarter surge that saw Agua Caliente outscore Sioux Falls 35-32 in the period.
DeAndre Liggins (15 points, six rebounds and five assists) scored seven of his 15 points in the final quarter as the Skyforce began the period on a 14-7 run, ultimately leading by as many as 16 points down the stretch.
In his first start of the season, Jarvis Threatt (12 points, nine assists and four rebounds) nearly tallied a double-double while Charles Cooke III (21 points, four assists, four rebounds) notched his 15th-straight 10+ scoring performance. Rodney Purvis (22 points, nine rebounds, eight assists) rounded out the bulk of the scoring for Sioux Falls with his second-straight 20-point game in the win.
Sioux Falls is back-at-home tomorrow, as the Stockton Kings (20-13) invade the Pentagon at 7:00 PM CT. Agua Caliente looks to end a three-game skid on Sunday at the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (24-12).
