Terry Doyle Named IL Pitcher of the Week

(Fort Mill, SC) - Charlotte right-hander Terry Doyle, who posted a 2-0 mark with a 1.35 ERA in two starts last week, was named as the International League's Pitcher of the Week for the period from May 28-June 3, as announced by the International League earlier today.

Doyle, 26, allowed just five hits over 13.1 innings over his two starts last week. The Massachusetts native took a no-hitter into the eighth inning of his start on Memorial Day (Monday, May 28) and allowed just one hit over 7.1 scoreless innings. He led the Knights to a 4-1 win over the Rochester Red Wings on that day.

In his next outing (Saturday, June 2), Doyle gave up just two runs on four hits over six innings en route to a 5-2 win over the Gwinnett Braves. The win was Doyle's fourth-straight and pushed his season record to 5-3 with a 3.04 ERA in 11 games (10 starts).

Currently, Doyle ranks among the International League leaders in three categories. He's 10th in ERA (3.04), fifth in strikeouts (62) and 2nd in innings pitched (68.0).

Doyle is the second Knights pitcher to receive the award this season. RHP Charlie Shirek was named IL Pitcher of the Week for the period from April 16-22.
