Kansas City Monarchs News Release

LAREDO, Texas - The T-Bones scored two early runs and held off a late Lemur rally, in an 11-10 win on Saturday night at Uni-Trade Stadium. The win gives Kansas City its first series win of the 2013 season.

The T-Bones offense led by Brandon Jones, who got on three hits, three RBIs and scored three runs, jumped ahead with two runs in the first. Although the Lemurs tied it in the bottom of the inning, the T-Bones took a lead into the final inning.

With Kansas City leading 11-7 in the top of the ninth inning, tensions rose after Kennard Jones stole second base. For the second consecutive game, the benches cleared and ejections were given out.

The Lemurs would go on to rally for three runs in the ninth inning, but Jhonny Montoya closed the door and recorded his fifth save and second of this series, giving the T-Bones the dramatic win.

Aaron Tullo (2-0) once again got great run support, and pitched into the seventh inning.

Kansas City (6-9) and Laredo (11-4) are scheduled to play Sunday afternoon at 3:16 in Laredo. The live broadcast can be heard online at tbonesbaseball.com or on 1660-AM, the KMBZ Business Channel.
