St. Paul Saints News Release
QUEBEC, QC (June 1, 2013) - The St. Paul Saints jumped out to a 4-0 lead after one inning, but the Quebec les Capitales trumped that with a five run third as the Saints lost game one of the double header 5-4 on Saturday night at Stade Municipal de Quebec.
In the first inning the Saints scored all four runs with two outs. Brad Boyer got it started with a single to center. He stole second and scored on Craig Brazell's RBI single to give the Saints a 1-0 lead. Brazell moved to second on a fielding error by center fielder Sebastian Boucher. Willie Cabrera made it 2-0 with an RBI single to center. Brandon Tripp then ripped his fifth homer of the season, a two-run blast to right giving the Saints a 4-0 lead. It's the eighth time in 14 games Tripp has amassed two RBI in a game.
The lead stayed that way until the third when Cole Nelson gave up a leadoff bloop single to Jeff Helps. Jonathan Malo doubled home helps to make it 4-1. With one out Rene Leveret walked and Josue Peley followed with an RBI single to make it 4-2. With two outs and the bases loaded, Nelson unleashed a wild pitch scoring a run to make it 4-3. Patrick D'Aoust, hitting just .121, doubled just inside the right field line scoring two runs and giving les Capitales the one run lead.
The Saints had a chance to tie in the fourth when Dan Kazcrowski singled with one out, but was thrown out trying to steal. Adam Frost followed with a double and then stole third, but Jose Hernandez fouled out to right to end the inning. The final 10 Saints hitters were retired in order.
