Grand Prairie AirHogs News Release
Amarillo- The Grand Prairie AirHogs and the Amarillo Sox opened their second series of the year Friday night with the AirHogs coming out on top 6-1. The AirHogs scored them through the use of the long ball. Both Brandon Pinckney and Kenny Held hitting home runs. Pinckney went 2-for-4 and drove in two runs. Held went 2-for-4 as well but drove in three runs. Yasutsugu Nishimoto also had a good day going 2-for-4. Juan Richardson also hit an RBI for the AirHogs. The AirHogs finally seem to be clicking as they raise their record to 5-7, and 5-5 in the last ten games. They still find themselves five and half games behind Laredo but with two more games against Amarillo and four games against Laredo next week; this could be a very different story next week.
Gaining the win for the AirHogs was Jared Mortensen, who went six innings giving up the only run for Amarillo. He registered eight strikeouts in the game, a personal best this season. This also was his first win of the season and he is 1-2 on the season. Marshall Schuler and David Quinowski also pitched for the AirHogs, allowing no runs. Schuler and Quinowski also each got a strikeout.
The Sox and the AirHogs will meet again at Sox Stadium with first pitch at 7:05 P.M. The AirHogs hope to continue their two game win streak and start June on the right foot. James Adkins will be on the mound for the AirHogs.
