Tri-City Storm News Release

Kearney, Ne. - Dan Labosky scored in the second to set a new season high in goals, Jake Kielly made 28 saves, but Team USA's Clayton Keller struck in the shootout to edge the Tri-City Storm, 3-2, Saturday at the Viaero Center.

In the only goal of the skills competition, Keller maneuvered net front and deposited the puck to the left post.

Before the winner, Labosky tallied his 11th of the season, the best mark in his three-season USHL career.

The Storm has points in 11 straight games, the longest streak in the league this season. Tri-City enters the final nine games with 63 points, tied with the Lincoln Stars for first in the Western Conference.

Jake Kielly, who took the shootout loss despite making 28 saves, has points in 18 straight appearances (12-0-4-2), the best stretch for a USHL netminder this season.

A tense feel chilled the Viaero Center during a chippy contest; the physicality resulted in seven power plays for Team USA's Under-18s (1-for-7) and four for Tri-City (0-for-4).

Team USA struck first on the man up at 4:53 of the second. Scott Reedy tipped Luke Martin's shot from the circle, with the secondary assist to Ryan Lindgren.

After Team USA went on its second consecutive man up, Labosky got the Storm on the board in the middle frame. Working short handed, the Wisconsin commit stole a misfired pass at center slot and tucked a five-hole backhander under Joseph Woll at 10:50. The Boston College commit Woll made 30 stops in the win.

Penalties continued to be a theme. Chad Krys, who turned the puck over to Labosky for the Storm's first goal, received a five-minute major penalty for cross checking Labosky at the end of the second. Krys was also assessed a game misconduct. The Storm failed to score on the ensuing five-minute major to begin the third.

Walker Duehr was freed from the sin bin with about five minutes remaining in the third. With the game even at one, Duehr backhanded a shot to the left post that beat Joseph Woll to the spot, resulting in a tie-breaking tally. Duehr has nine goals this season. Mattias Goransson and John Marino assisted the goal at 15:37.

Just 1:12 later, Joey Anderson sniped a left-circle shot past Kielly to force overtime. The Storm attempted two shots in overtime and outshot Team USA, 33-31.

Next weekend, after traveling to play the Des Moines Buccaneers on Friday, March 18 at 7:05 p.m., the Storm returns home on Saturday, March 19 for a showdown against Sioux City. Puck drops at 7:05 p.m. for I Heart Country and Ag Appreciation Night, presented by G.I. Family Radio. Plus, college students get $6 tickets on College Night!

Groups of 10+ can get discounted group tickets for as low as $11. For information contact the Storm Box Office at 308-338-8144.
