Madison Capitols News Release

Madison, WI - The Madison Capitols (21-23-4-3) look for a weekend sweep on home ice as they welcome the Youngstown Phantoms (24-18-4-5) on Saturday night to the Alliant Energy Center for Pucks N' Paws night.

Youngstown has won each of the first three games in the season series, scoring a total of 13 goals in the three victories. The Phantoms spoiled "Be The Miracle" night on Jan. 9 at the Coliseum, rattling off four unanswered goals after trailing by a score of 3-1 to win, 5-3. Colin DeAugustine denied all 26 shots he faced in relief of Ryan Bednard.

Bednard and the Phantoms then took care of business on home ice last weekend, knocking off the Capitols by 4-2 and 4-1 scores on March 4 and March 5 respectively. Marcel Godbout has been a force against Youngstown this season with both the Capitols and Chicago Steel. The forward has struck for seven goals and ten points in nine games against the Phantoms this season.

The Capitols, despite going 48 days between games at the Coliseum between Jan. 23 and Friday night, have won four in a row at their home rink. They picked up a 2-1 victory in their first meeting with the Sioux Falls Stampede last night. Godbout and Marshall Moise scored, while Ryan Edquist stopped 31 shots for the victory. Moise's game-winning goal was his first as a member of the Capitols since being acquired from Waterloo on Feb. 29.

Madison has taken care of business in the past twelve games, earning points in nine contests since Feb. 6.

The Capitols take Sunday off before embarking on a three-game week, including a stop at the PREMIER Center to take on the Sioux Falls Stampede on Tuesday night for a 7:05 p.m. puck drop. They then return home on Friday and Saturday, March 18-19, for contests against Green Bay and Des Moines respectively.

Friday marks another WJJO $1 Beer Night from doors' opening at 6 p.m. through the end of the first intermission. It is also the finale of the Wisconsin Cheese Cup. A Capitols' win would result in a second straight clinching of the Cheese Cup for Madison.

Saturday will be a Craft Beer Night at the Coliseum, with ten different craft beers from breweries such as Sam Adams, Leinenkugel's, and more. Puck drops at 7:05 p.m. for the Caps' second tangle with the Buccaneers.
