Cedar Rapids Kernels News Release
The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announce that LHP Andrew Taylor has been promoted to Rancho Cucamonga of the California League and RHP Francis Cabrera will join the Kernels from extended Spring Training. Abe Flores, Director of Player Development for the LA Angels, announced the move on Saturday.
Cabrera, 21, was signed by the Angels on June 11, 2005 and is a native of Santiago, DR. He split time in 2008 between Orem, where he was 2-1 with a 3.24 ERA in 11 relief appearances, and Rancho Cucamonga, where he was 1-1 with a 3.07 ERA in 11 games.
Taylor appeared in four games for the Kernels, all in relief, and allowed just one hit and struck out five over four innings pitched.
Cabrera will join the Kernels in Geneva, IL and will be available for Saturday's 5 pm game with the Kane County Cougars. With today's transactions, the Kernels roster remains at the MWL of 25 active players with no one currently listed on the disabled list.
The Kernels road trip continues through Sunday, April 19. They return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Tuesday, April 21 and open a four game series with the Clinton LumberKings. Tickets may be purchased on-line at www.kernels.com
