
Tangradi, Devils Stun Monsters Late, 3-2

CLEVELAND - Eric Tangradi scored the game-winning goal with 1:08 left in regulation to complete a 3-2 comeback victory over the host Cleveland Monsters in front of 16,673 at Quicken Loans Arena on Saturday night.
Cleveland kicked things off to take a 1-0 lead 8:09 into the game on a rebound chance. Mackenzie Blackwood kicked the original shot out, however, Kole Sherwood cleaned up in front for his ninth of the year with assists from Eric Robinson and Gabriel Carlsson. The Devils trailed by one after one and the Monsters held a 14-8 shot advantage.
Sam Vigneault added to the lead just 3:37 into the second period on a shot from the point. With traffic in front of Blackwood's net, Vigneault sent the puck in from just inside the blue line for a 2-0 lead on his second goal of the year. Assists on the goal were given to Adam Clendening and Dillon Simpson.
Binghamton answered back with two goals to tie the game after two periods. On a two-on-one chance, Michael McLeod took a pass from John Ramage and beat goaltender Jean-Francois Berube for his sixth of the year. McLeod's goal came at 5:48 of the second with assists credited to Ramage and Nathan Bastian.
Bastian tied the game on the power play with just 1:59 left in the second. Eric Tangradi pulled the puck to the front of the net and was denied by Berube, but, Bastian was right there to punch in his 14th of the year to tie the game, 2-2, after two periods.
With just 68 seconds left in the third period, Eric Tangradi slid the puck through the legs of Berube on a pass from below the goal line to give the Devils their first lead of the night, 3-2. Ramage and Egor Yakovlev collected both assists and the Devils held on the the comeback win.
Blackwood stopped 32 shots for the win while Berube denied 25 in the loss.
After rematch tomorrow afternoon in Cleveland, the Binhamton Devils return home Friday, February 15, and Saturday, February 16 against the Laval Rocket at 7:05 p.m. Friday is a Friday 4-Pack Night where fans get four tickets, four hotdogs, and four sodas.
