Heat Rally for 6-2 Win over Colorado
February 9, 2019 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Stockton Heat News Release
LOVELAND, Colo. - For the second-straight night the Stockton Heat saw a 2-0 first-period lead disappear, but they were able to flip the script Saturday thanks to Dillon Dube's strike 4:50 into the second, the first of three unanswered in a 5-2 road win at Colorado. Dube's marker pushed the visiting team ahead after watching a two-goal edge that was built by first-period goals from Ryan Lomberg and Buddy Robinson disappear in the first four minutes of the second. A nice passing sequence from Juuso Valimaki behind Stockton's net to Spencer Foo the far blue line, who paused before yielding to Dube, who entered the zone with speed and crashed the net for a forehand-to-backhand move produced a 3-2 lead that Stockton did not relinquish. The Heat claimed insurance markers from defenseman Adam Ollas Mattsson, his fifth of the season and third against the Eagles, late in the second, Tyler Graovac and Curtis Lazar in the third to punctuate the win. Jon Gillies was strong in the contest, turning away 29 of 31 shots in Stockton's first win after the All-Star Break.

- Ryan Lomberg got the scoring started after forcing a turnover from Colorado netminder Spencer Martin, then cashing in on a give-and-go with Matthew Phillips. It was Lomberg's fifth goal of the season and his third-straight game with a point (1g,2a).
- Buddy Robinson followed with a tally just 26 seconds later, his ninth of the season and second of the year against Colorado.
- The Eagles added another shorthanded goal to their tally against the Heat, finishing with five SHG in four games against Stockton in Loveland.
- Dillon Dube pushed Stockton ahead 3-2 with his seventh goal of the season and later collected an assist to push his hot scoring stretch to eight of nine games (5g,5a). Spencer Foo and Juuso Valimaki collected assists on Dube's goal, giving Foo points in five of six, Valimaki points in four of six AHL games.
- Adam Ollas Mattsson's marker late in the second was his fifth goal of the season, third against the Eagles in the teams' sixth meeting of the year.
- Tyler Graovac and Spencer Foo finished the game with multipoint efforts, Graovac's 10th of the season and Foo's sixth.
- The win was the first for Stockton since prior to the All-Star Break, snapping a streak of three-straight games without registering a point. The Heat are now 4-1-0-1 on the year against Colorado.
The Heat have a Wednesday date at Bakersfield before returning home on Saturday, Feb. 16 to start another two-game set with the Eagles. The Sunday game (Feb. 17) will begin Hockey Week Across America festivities in Stockton.
