CLEVELAND - The AHL's Cleveland Monsters were defeated by the Binghamton Devils on Saturday in front of a season-high 16,673 fans at The Q by a final score of 3-2. With the loss, the Monsters are now 22-21-4-1 overall this season and with 49 points, find themselves in sixth place in the AHL's North Division standings.

Cleveland grabbed a 1-0 lead on Saturday when Kole Sherwood netted an even-strength marker at 8:09 of the opening period thanks to a hard-working setup from Eric Robinson and Gabriel Carlsson.

In the second, the Monsters pushed their edge to 2-0 with a Sam Vigneault five-on-five finish at 3:37 following assists from Adam Clendening and Dillon Simpson before Binghamton leveled the score with an even-strength Michael McLeod tally at 5:48 and a power-play strike from Nathan Bastien at 18:01.

After the third period slid by mostly scoreless, Binghamton's Eric Tangradi scraped home what proved to be the decisive marker at 18:52 of the final stanza at even-strength to seal a 3-2 victory for the Devils.

Monsters goaltender Jean-Francois Berube stopped 25 of the 28 shots he faced to fall to 14-15-3 this season while Binghamton's Mackenzie Blackwood improved to 8-7-1 in net following a 32-save performance.
