TAMPA BAY, Fla. - The Tampa Bay Lightning, NHL parent club of the Norfolk Admirals, have assigned defensemen Matt Lashoff and Mike Lundin (luhn-DEEN) to Norfolk, Lightning Executive Vice President and General Manager Brian Lawton announced today.
Lashoff, a 6-foot-2, 204-pound defenseman from East Greenbush, New York, is a former first-round draft pick and AHL All-Star. He has appeared in 58 career NHL games between the Lightning and Boston Bruins, scoring one goal and 14 assists. A 2005 first-round draft choice (22nd overall) of the Bruins, the Lightning acquired the 22-year-old from Boston on March 4, 2009 with Martins Karsums in exchange for Mark Recchi and second-round draft pick in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
Lashoff has skated in 166 career AHL games with Providence and Norfolk tallying 26 goals and 69 assists. He was selected as a starter for the PlanetUSA team at the 2007-08 AHL All-Star Game. Prior to turning pro Lashoff played three seasons of junior hockey with Kitchener of the Ontario Hockey League, recording 16 goals, 93 points and 284 penalty minutes in 162 games.
Lundin, a 6-foot-2, 188-pound defenseman from Burnsville, Minnesota, led the Admirals in scoring by defensemen last season. The 25-year-old third-year pro registered four goals and 25 assists after being assigned to Norfolk by the Lightning on December 13. He appeared in all 51 of Norfolk's games after being assigned and ranked sixth in scoring and second in assists during that time. Lundin also played 25 games with the Lightning last season, recording two assists.
Lundin has appeared in 106 career NHL games - all with the Lightning - with eight assists. In 2007-08, he appeared in 81 of Tampa Bay's 82 games and ranked second on the Lightning in plus/minus rating with a plus-3. He also represented the Eastern Conference in the 2008 NHL YoungStars Game.
Lundin played in 160 career games with the Maine Black Bears from 2003-07, recording 13 goals and 69 points. He was drafted by the Lightning in the fourth round (102nd overall) at the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
