Sobotka Assigned to P-Bruins

Providence, RI The Providence Bruins, entering their 18th season in the American Hockey League, announced that the National Hockey Leagues Boston Bruins have assigned forward Vladimir Sobotka to Providence. With the move, the P-Bruins have 27 players on their roster, including 15 forwards, eight defensemen and four goaltenders.

Sobotka, 22, skated in seven preseason games with Boston, registering a goal and an assist. The third-year pro split the last two seasons between Boston and Providence and posted a career-best 49 points between the two squads in 2008-09. With the P-Bruins, Sobotka scored 20 goals and added 24 assists in just 44 regular season AHL games, plus another 13 points (2g, 11a) in 14 Calder Cup playoff contests. For the parent Bruins, the center added five points (g, 4a) in 25 regular season match-ups.

In his first two professional seasons, the native of Trebic, Czech Republic, has 76 points (32g, 44a) and 154 penalty minutes in 135 NHL and AHL games. Sobotka was selected 106th overall by Boston in the fourth round of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
