Portland Pirates News Release

PORTLAND, Maine - Tyler Ennis scored once and added two assists to lead the Portland Pirates to a 4-2 win over the University of New Brunswick Reds in an exhibition game played tonight at the Portland Ice Arena.

Ennis finished the pre-season with a team-leading two goals and five assists for seven points in three games.

Paul Byron, Marc-Andre Gragnani and Derek Whitmore also scored for the Pirates. Kyle Wanvig collected two helpers in the winning effort, which raised Portland's pre-season record to 2-1.

Hunter Tremblay and Daine Todd replied for UNB.

The two teams were tied at one after one and at two after two. Gragnani's power-play goal four minutes into the third proved to be the difference to lift the Pirates past the defending Canadian University Champions.

Jhonas Enroth played the first two periods for the Pirates turning aside 26 of the 28 shots he faced. JP Lamoureux came off the bench for the third and stopped all eight shots he faced to post the win.

UNB out shot the Pirates 36-22 in the game.
