Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release
KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (May 4, 2015) - The Kannapolis Intimidators, Class A Affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, have promoted right-handed pitcher Peter Tago to Class A-Advanced Winston-Salem today. In a corresponding move, the Intimidators receive pitcher Connor Walsh from Extended Spring Training.
Tago, 22, went 0-1 with a 3.75 ERA (5 ER/12.0 IP) with 10 strikeouts and two walks in seven games with Kannapolis. The relief pitcher is in his first season with the White Sox organization after being selected in the Rule 5 Minor League draft last December. Tago spent the 2014 season with Class A-Advanced Modesto in the California League, going 0-6 with a 6.00 ERA (40 ER/60 IP) in 43 games. The Colorado Rockies originally selected Tago in the supplemental first round (47th overall) in the June 2010 First-Year Player Draft out of Dana Point (Calif.) High School. He made his professional debut in 2011 in the South Atlantic League with the Asheville Tourists, going 3-5 with a 7.07 ERA in 19 games (19 starts), including a pair of outings against the Intimidators.
Walsh, 22, returns to the Intimidators after making four relief appearances for the club at the end of 2014. The White Sox 12th round pick from the June 2014 First-Year Player Draft, Walsh went 2-1 with a 4.33 ERA (13 ER/27 IP) with two saves and 29 strikeouts over 19 appearances between Advanced Rookie Great Falls and Kannapolis. While pitching in college at Cincinnati, he earned American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week honors April 22-28, 2014.
The team wraps up the current home stand with Belly Buster Monday presented by Buffalo Wild Wings, featuring all-you-can-eat for only $10 (some exclusions apply) before opening a 7-game road trip to West Virginia and Lexington. The Intimidators return home for a 4-game series in Kannapolis May 14-17 against the Lakewood BlueClaws. Tickets are available by calling the F&M Bank Box Office at (704) 932-3267.
