PCL Salt Lake Bees

Tacoma Tops Salt Lake in Series Opener

May 14, 2021 - Pacific Coast League (PCL)
Salt Lake Bees News Release

A rough seventh inning spelled disaster for the Salt Lake Bees as they fell to the Tacoma Rainiers 15-5 on Thursday night.

Anthony Bemboom gave the Bees an early 2-1 lead on a 2-RBI triple in the second. Brandon Marsh and Jake Gatewood followed in the third and fourth innings with their first Triple-A home runs to stake the Bees to a 5-2 lead. Tacoma would tie the game up in the sixth and then break the game open with a 10-run seventh inning, tied for the most runs allowed in a seventh inning in Salt Lake franchise history.

Marsh made an impression in his Triple-A debut, finishing 2-for-3 with two walks, a home run and stolen base. Dillon Peters got the start for the Bees and lasted five and one-third innings allowing five runs while striking out seven, but did not factor into the decision. Ben Rowen took the loss with seven runs allowed in one inning of work.

The Bees and Rainiers will be back for game two of the six-game series on Friday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
