OKC Lead Short-Lived in Loss to Sacramento

The Oklahoma City Dodges grabbed the first lead of the game Thursday, but the Sacramento River Cats scored three runs in their next at-bat on the way to a 5-2 win in the Dodgers' home season opener at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. Rangel Ravelo's RBI single in the third inning put the Dodgers in front, 1-0. The River Cats loaded the bases in the fourth inning and an RBI groundout followed by a two-run single put the River Cats in front, 3-1. Sacramento added two runs in the eighth inning on a home run by Joe McCarthy and a bases-loaded walk to build a 5-1 lead before OKC's Zach Reks lined a RBI double into left-center field to cut Sacramento's lead to 5-2 in the bottom of the inning.

Of Note: -Thursday marked the first OKC Dodgers game played at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark since Sept. 2, 2019 following the cancellation of the 2020 Minor League Baseball season and delayed start of the 2021 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

-With the loss, OKC fell to 8-15 in home openers since Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark first opened in 1998 and has lost eight of its last nine home openers.

-Zach Reks has now hit safely in six straight games, going 8-for-25 with two doubles, a home run and a team-high six RBI.

-Top Dodgers prospect Keibert Ruiz picked up his third double in as many games with a ground-rule double in the third inning. He is a combined 5-for-15 with a RBI since being optioned by the Los Angeles Dodgers May 10.

-Dodgers reliever Darien Núñez allowed one hit over 2.0 scoreless innings of relief with four strikeouts for his second straight scoreless outing of the season with OKC (4.1 IP total).

-The Dodgers' record fell to 1-6 overall, marking the team's slowest start to a season in the Bricktown era (since 1998).

-The Dodgers allowed five runs Thursday night and have now allowed at least five runs in each of their first seven games of the season (54 runs total).

What's Next: The Dodgers continue their first home series of the season with a 7:05 p.m. game Friday against the Sacramento River Cats at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. Fireworks are slated to follow the game, which continues a six-game series between the teams.
