TACOMA, Wash. - The Tacoma Rainiers (41-38) could not capitalize on 11 walks in a 5-2 loss to the Las Vegas 51s (35-44) on Wednesday afternoon at Cheney Stadium.

Third baseman Seth Mejias-Brean (2x3, RBI, 2 BB) reached base four times to lead the Rainiers offense. Center fielder Andrew Aplin went 2-for-4 with one walk, while second baseman Gordon Beckham (1x3, 2 BB), designated hitter Daniel Vogelbach (0x2, 3 BB), and right fielder Kirk Nieuwenhuis (1x3, R, 2B, 2 RBI) all also reached base three times.

Rainiers starting pitcher Ariel Miranda - who came off the 7-day disabled list earlier in the morning - worked one inning and allowed one run on one hit while walking three and striking out one.

Casey Lawrence (6-3), who was scheduled to start, worked 5.2 innings of relief and allowed four runs on eight hits while taking the loss. He issued one walk and struck out five. Ashton Goudeau (1.0 IP), Tyler Higgins (0.1 IP), and Darin Gillies (1.0 IP) all worked scoreless outings and allowed just two total hits.

Tacoma and Las Vegas wrap up their four-game series on Thursday night at 7:05 p.m. PT. Rainiers right-hander Christian Bergman (4-5, 4.47) will go up against 51s right-hander Cody Martin (1-2, 5.06).
