Sounds Sweep Wednesday Doubleheader in OKC

Oklahoma City - The Oklahoma City Dodgers dropped both games of a doubleheader to the Nashville Sounds Wednesday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, losing the first game, 5-4, and the second game, 1-0.

The Dodgers and Sounds played two seven-inning games after Monday's series opener was postponed due to wet grounds in Oklahoma City.

The doubleheader was the second of the season for the Dodgers (43-31).

Oklahoma City has now lost four straight games overall for the first time since July 9-15, 2017 and five straight home games for the first time since Aug. 4-8, 2015.

The Dodgers took the day's first lead in Game 1.

Kyle Farmer tripled to right field and scored on a RBI single by Kyle Garlick for a 1-0 Dodgers advantage in the first inning. Farmer went on to finish Game 1 with three hits and scored two runs.

Back-to-back doubles by Anthony Garcia and Sheldon Neuse led off the second inning and tied the game, 1-1 for Nashville.

Oklahoma City regained the lead in the back-and-forth game when Angelo Mora connected on a RBI single in the bottom of the second inning.

Nashville (36-40) scored three runs in the third inning, including a two-run homer by RamÃ"n Laureano, to take a 4-2 lead.

Oklahoma City's Andrew Toles connected on a RBI double to center field in the bottom of the third inning to cut the Sounds' lead to 4-3. His RBI single in the fifth inning knotted the game, 4-4.

In the top of the sixth inning, Nashville's Jorge Mateo tripled to center field with one out and Steve Lombardozzi scored to put Nashville in front, 5-4.

Dodgers starting pitcher Manny Bañuelos (8-4) was charged with the loss, tying his season high with five runs allowed (four earned) and eight hits over 5.1 innings with one walk and five strikeouts.

Nashville starting pitcher Eric Jokisch (2-7) picked up the win, allowing four runs (two earned) and eight hits over 5.0 innings with one walk and four strikeouts. Sounds reliever J.B. Wendelken closed out the game with two scoreless frames for his first save with Nashville.

In Game 2, the Dodgers were held to three hits and struck out 10 times as Oklahoma City went 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position.

The Dodgers were held without a hit until Toles singled to lead off the bottom of the fourth inning.

Toles went on to tally two hits in both games of the doubleheader and finished the day a combined 4-for-6 with two doubles and two RBI to pace OKC.

Nashville scored the game's lone run in the fifth inning.

Brett Vertigan tripled with one out and scored on a RBI single by Nick Martini to right field for a 1-0 Nashville lead.

Dodgers reliever Josh Sborz (0-1) was charged with the loss, allowing the game's lone run.

Nashville starting pitcher Ben Bracewell (1-2) pitched 5.0 scoreless innings and held the Dodgers to two hits for the win. He walked two batters and recorded five strikeouts.

The Dodgers wrap up their four-game series against the Sounds at 7:05 p.m. tomorrow on a $2 Thursday, featuring $2 Pepsi products, bottled water and select beer.
